Three of the world's largest private equity firms, EQT Group, Hg and TA Associates, already own IFS, a company that has spent 27 years in Sri Lanka and built 3,000+ tech jobs here. So what did they do next?
In 2025, those same owners launched IGT1 Outsourcing Lanka, a new, 100% export oriented technology and talent company and a sister company to IFS. It became one of the first global IT firms to set up inside the Port City Colombo Special Economic Zone, with Authorised Person status granted by the Port City Economic Commission.
What IGT1 does
IGT1 serves the global technology portfolio of EQT, Hg and TA. It provides software, IT services and specialist tech talent to software companies worldwide, including work in areas like generative AI. It is leasing two office buildings at the Port City Business Centre.
Why a repeat bet matters
Global investors do not build a second company in a country unless the first one convinced them. Over 27 years, IFS showed that Sri Lankan engineering delivers at world class standards. IGT1 is what that proof earns: more capital, more jobs, and a flagship presence in the country's most ambitious new economic zone.
The first bet built 3,000 careers. The second one is just getting started.
