In 2023, Peter Ward, an Australian managing director, noticed something. Sri Lanka had an enormous pool of technical talent that the global IT industry was not tapping into.
He founded Dijital Team. It is headquartered in Australia with operations at the World Trade Centre in Colombo, and a mission to build dedicated offshore IT teams in Sri Lanka for clients across Australia, the US, Europe and the UK.
Two years later
200 employees. Software developers, network engineers, QA specialists and cybersecurity experts, all based in Sri Lanka.
The culture numbers back it up. In 2025, Great Place to Work Sri Lanka ranked Dijital Team the 4th Best Workplace in Sri Lanka in the 100 to 250 employees category, and one of the Top 10 Best Workplaces in Technology in the country.
Dijital Team was also one of the first companies in Sri Lanka to launch LinkedIn Learning for all employees, partnering directly with LinkedIn India.
The philosophy
Ward's philosophy is simple: take care of the people who delight the customer. The result is a company where retention is high, applicants arrive already aligned to the culture, and recruitment has shifted from convincing to attracting.
200 people. Two years. Fourth best workplace in its category. That is the speed at which global companies can build in Sri Lanka.
